The Captain's Crew
Eric Woll was an avid sailor, a skilled craftsman, a parrothead & an accomplished runner. He shared his passion for running with his 'favorite youngest daughter', Sarah. In August of 2010, he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer & a terminal diagnosis. He spent the next 15 months battling the disease. He lost this battle on November 9, 2011. He was survived by his wife, Stephanie, 'favorite oldest daughter', Amy & 'number one young son', Chris. He is deeply missed by his five grandchildren, sister & friends.
After his passing, Sarah searched for a way to carry on his fight for others & honor her father. She approached Head for the Cure & asked them to bring a 5K to Austin. The inaugural Central Texas 5K was held on March 17th, 2013. This event raised over $70,000 & had over 1200 participants. 20% of funds raised each year stays in the local community, funding research for more effective treatment options.
He would be so proud to know so many of you are running with us in his honor!
Thanks again and see you all on race day!
