Queen Arthur's Court
When I was pregnant with our son, Chase, my friend Nikki nicknamed him King Arthur because we didn't have a baby name yet. As a funny side benefit, it annoyed Jason so we had fun calling him King. Thus, the team name Queen Arthur's Court was born!
Last year, a bunch of my wonderful friends came out to walk in Charleston to raise money for brain cancer research, and I'd love to double the number of friends that walk this year. I'd also love to be the top team in terms of donations. We're hoping to have a tent to raise awareness and money for our Radiation Recovery Kits as well, but I'm still waiting to hear back from Head for the Cure regarding that. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted!
20% of all funds raised at this event go directly to Hollings Cancer Center right here in South Carolina. This is one of two brain cancer fundraising events for Hollings, but it's the only one where money goes directly to the facility personally tasked with treating my cancer. Read on for details about the upcoming walk/run in February, and please consider joining us, donating to our team, or both!
All my love,
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Charleston on February 16, 2019. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 200,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
