Kiss My Astrocytoma!
Hello Family and Friends! As you all know, I was diagnosed almost a year ago with stage 3 brain cancer. The 3cm anaplastic astrocytoma was completely resected by my talented neurosurgeon at the University of Washington and then Joel, the kids and I spent the summer getting 33 proton radiation treatments at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Proton Therapy Center. I was on chemotherapy durning that time and am currently in my 10th round of adjuvant chemotherapy. I will continue to get MRIs every 3 months for the rest of my life. I am thankful for all of your support, love and prayer and now I am calling on you once again. We choose to live each day with hope but we desperately need more dollars for funding research to work toward an effective treatment and hopefully a cure. The dollars raised from this event go directly to the center where I and countless others are seen and treated. Please consider a small donation to our team or, if you are going to be in the area, join us for the 5k run/walk!
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure - Seattle on June 30th, 2018. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 200,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
